Pittcon -- a conference and exposition on laboratory science -- is organized by The Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy, a Pennsylvania not-for-profit educational corporation comprised of the Spectroscopy Society of Pittsburgh (SSP) and the Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh (SACP). Abstracts for FOM2010 are due Jan. 11. The interdisciplinary meeting will present the latest innovations and trends in advanced multi-dimensional light microscopy and image processing applied to biology, medicine, and material/soft matter sciences.

Subjects will include:
- the theory and practice of multidimensional optical microscopes
- high spatial resolution (SIM, STED, PALM, etc.), sophisticated excitation (CARS, Raman, SHG, THG, OCS) and fluorescence imaging modes (FRET, FLIM, FRAP, FCS) for spatial light microscopy
- new techniques for functional studies and manipulation of cells and tissues
- automated and high-throughput microscopy techniques
- fluorescence activation, depletion and quenching techniques for cell biology
- related image processing and analysis approaches
